A little bit up...a little bit down

I haven't posted in so long, but then again who the hell has had time lately.  I feel like I'm constantly running to catch up with myself and fill everyone's needs, and just be enough...enough for my husband (I'm sure he'd be yelling at me right now if he read this...lol) enough for each individual one of my kids, to make it so that they know what it is in life they need to do, and enough ...to just be happy sometimes.  Every once in a while I stop for two seconds, as I'm hugging Jayden, and I think, "what in the hell made me think I could do this?"...I'm holding an individual human being, with likes, dislikes, needs, and until he's an adult, I'm responsible for ALL of it.  Multiply it by four, and you get overwhelmed.  I try not to let that two second interval enter into my daily existence, or you'll find me in the rubber room of the Royal Ottawa Hospital.  I had this type of experience of feeling like I need to be enough to make it all right for everyone, once before.  I think there's a connection to a husband having post tour issues, and children going through trying times, with my present feelings.  Sometimes I feel like I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about and if they'd just goddamned listen things would work out right.  Then the next moment I go....."who said that???"  Thankfully (I think) I don't let that side out to play very often or we'd REALLY be in a mess.  Women....who can figure em eh?

This post probably hasn't made a whole lot of sense this time around, and honestly...who the hell cares...it's working for me...lol

For my friends, the only two who ever really see this....thank you for being here when I log in every so often.  Re....I won't bother commenting on your latest post, I'll just say that you don't need to do anything to be...."enough" for me, you're a GREAT girl, and I'm proud to know you, and I hope things get better, and smoother for you very soon!!  I'll be here when they do :)

Freddy...you're just cute, and I'm glad you're there for her, and I also hope you guys get this stupid immigration crap worked out soon!!:)

It was BABY DAY today!!.....

"I get to experience SOMEONE ELSE give birth, and not only do I get to be there, and support my friend, but I'm also helping the midwife CATCH.  I keep thinking I should go pick up that pink ballglove I saw the other day but somehow I don't think the humour in that would be appreciated...heehee"

What a fabulous exhilerating 24hrs it's been!  As you can see I had an idea of how my week was supposed to play out.  I was so dead off on that one it wasn't funny..LOL  Yesterday late afternoon I get a message from my friend Tara on MSN saying, ok change of plans I'm in labour NOW.  Immediately I go into excitement mode thinking yay, we get to do it now and get it done and I can spend the rest of the week relaxing and enjoy the rest of Greg's time off and visit with a new baby etc.  Here's how the night played out.....

Tara who has three other children aged 8, 3, and 2 was expecting her fourth and possibly final child.  She had planned to deliver at home with the help of a midwife and myself.  Her husband is in Afghanistan and won't be home until May 13th for his leave.  I arrived at Tara's house and got the little kids bathed and settled for the evening so they could be put to bed, and we could get ready to set her up to have the baby.  Now her longest labour from the very first pain to having the baby nursing was 3 hours...so being baby number 4 everyone figured it would be super fast.  Here's the catch. ...on base, the midwives are not permitted to deliver a baby at home until no sooner than 37 weeks complete.  She wouldn't be that until Thursday and this was Monday.  Off to the hospital we went after labouring at home for two hours only to find she was only 3 cm, but a good 3.  She did her medical history etc, (the midwife was out of town so she couldn't be there with us) and we warned the nurses that if the doctor can come break her water after a couple more cm, she would have the baby before midnight no problem.  They told us that they won't just break her water for the hell of it, they would have to wait until 5 AM when the doctor makes his rounds....ugh.  Long long night shorter, she ended up with her very first 13 hour labour, but was my absolute hero!!  She was so quiet, no complaining, and only needed four shots of demerol to get through it.  My friend Cindy and I were with her all night, and kept her hydrated, walked her, rocked her, and back rubbed until we thought our hands would fall off...lol..but it was all worth while because in the end, I got to experience what it was like to hold a baby's head as it was being delivered from it's mother, and I got to cut the umbilical cord.  I was able to take her first pictures to make sure that her father had some way of feeling like he didn't quite miss everything.  I was very honoured to be there, very honoured to take her pictures and I can't wait for them to come home so I can have my next "baby fix"  lol  In the mean time...I could use a nap!  ;)

There's just something about sitting in my living room surrounded by four kids, on a cold crappy March afternoon watching the Lion King.  The funny thing is I'm pretty sure if I had a historical crystal ball to look into, I could see a cold crappy March afternoon just like this one, but two less children, and the same movie.  Matthew was a Lion King FANATIC!  He watched it so much he wore out the VHS tape..lol  We had to buy another one, and then when it came out on DVD we bought it there as well.  I like to keep the classics around, plus movies like Lion King, LIttle Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast etc....they've been much watched to say the least!  It's been a REALLY busy few weeks, and I haven't had time to really think much less post on here..LOL I'm hoping after Easter things will calm down a bit and we can get back to business!  Hope everyone is enjoying spring!
